Hunter Education Program

The Liberty Police Department (LPD) is offering a Traditional Hunter Education Course.  All hunters in Texas born on or after September 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Training Course.

LPD's class follows the state guidelines of 10 hours of training, over two days.  The class dates and times are:

Friday, Sept 17, 2010 - 7:00pm to 10:00pm and
Saturday, Sept 18, 2010 - 9:00am - 4:00pm
Training Fee is $15.00, payable at the start of class
Limited seating of 100 students
No deadline for registration, first come first serve

The course contains numerous topics, including:  Knowledge of Firearm Equipment, Basic Hunting and Shooting Skills, Primitive Hunter Equipment and Techniques, Hunting Safety, Ethics, Survival Skills and Wildlife Exercises.  It also covers the use of camouflage, blood trailing and shooting safety.  There will be no live ammunition allowed in any part of the Hunter Education Course.

The legally hunt in Texas, a person under 9 years of age must me accompanied by a person at least 17 years of age, who is licensed to hunt in Texas and has passed a Hunter Education Course, or is exempt (born before 9/2/71) and must be within normal voice control.

Ages 9-16 must successfully complete a Hunter Education Course or must be accompanied by a person at least 17 years of age, who is licensed to hunt in Texas and has passed a Hunter Education Course, or is exempt (born before 9/2/71) and must be within normal voice control.

Ages 17 and older must successfully complete a Hunter Education Course OR puchase a "one time only" Hunter Education Deferral good for the current license year, and be accompanied by a person at least 17 years of age, who is at least 17 years of age, who is licensed to hunt in Texas and has passed a Hunter Education Course, or is exempt (born before 9/2/71) and must be within normal voice control.
